Those look awesome, great work! The stitching makes it stronger im sure, plus it looks legit.

A few more pics of our diy patches. They were a bit hard to get to seal right, you have to work both front and back well, but I think they look good and seem pretty strong. About 3.5 inches in diameter.

I’ve posted some guidelines here for people who would like to make an inflatable floor. My standard video+picture instructions aren’t up yet because I’m in the middle of moving to a new house, so if you have […]

Well someone just directed me to the alpacka page that has their tie downs and strap plates. I think these are the way to go if you aren’t up for making your own. I’m still up in the air as to whether I’ll tackle making my own.

I’m not quite sure what I’ll do for tie downs once I get to the step (method, etc). Just a quick question… Stumbled upon this web page: http://www.stitchesnstuff91.com/dringsandhandles.html
Anyone think any of these type of premade rings/tiedowns would work?
Thanks for the input!

Check out the new top-up valves now in stock in the DIY Packraft shop. They’re lighter, more flexible, prettier, and cheaper than the older top-up valves – basically better in every way! They can also be extended […]

Don’t tell anyone, but double coated 420D and 1000D fabrics will be added to the shop later this Spring 😉

Correction: the original 70d tpu fabric I bought some years ago was from SeattleFabrics, not extremtextil. As others so rightly say, their customer service is diabolically bad, to the point where I expunged the transaction from my memory and assumed that I had bought it from ExtremTextil instead. Despite that I have some samples from them now. The…[Read more]

I will try stitching loops to fabric next, like Olympic Mtn Boy above. In the image below are four flat tie down patches with simple slots cut for webbing. I tested a two layer version, with the center “tab” doubled by heat sealing a piece of TPU coated fabric to the bottom. This served to prevent it from being unevenly sealed to the raft creating…[Read more]

I have been using two-sided 70D Ripstop nylon from Rockywoods Fabrics as a middle layer in accessory patches for tie points. It serves to increase the strength of the patch over a two layer patch.
I would not suggest it for a raft because the TPU coating peels off the nylon. The coating does not appear to be as well bonded to the fabric. I seem…[Read more]
