Until recently, shipping via Canada Post was an affordable way to send DIY Packraft parcels to Europe. Unfortunately the EU has implemented new rules that forced Canada Post to stop accepting parcels destined for many European countries.
You will still see Purolator as a shipping option on the Cart page, but Purolator is a courier like Fedex and UPS. If it is too expensive, there is another option.
Consider using a freight forwarder, such as Polimark. (I’m not affiliated with Polimark in any way – I just picked them as an example.)
The way a freight forwarder works is you create an account with them, and when you order from DIY Packraft you put their Canadian address in the order form instead of your own. I send the parcel to them, and they bundle it with many other parcels and send them all to Europe together, saving money compared to a regular courier.
From the information on the Polimark website, it looks like it would end up costing roughly €63 to ship a kit to Europe, plus the cost of shipping within Canada, which might be about $25 CAD €16, depending on where in Canada their warehouse is located.
So, it might cost about €80 to ship a packraft kit to Europe, instead of the higher price Purolator charges for many European destinations.
If you’ve used a freight forwarder in the past, please share your experience in a comment below.
