Hi Alex – don’t panic! This is fixable.
It doesn’t look too far off and I think you’ll be alright. If worse comes to worst, send me an email through the Contact page and I’ll give you my phone number so I can help you out. I’m off to dinner now, but briefly, here’s what I propose:
Position 4R so it lines up with the floor slit and 5R, and trim…[Read more]

I just realized this should have gone in the help section and I don’t know how to change it. Sorry (first time poster).

So, I’m an idiot and wasn’t paying close enough attention to aligning the second part of part 3r. I only realized after I got to the second part of part 4r and that wave of dread rushed over me. Is this a fixable problem?
What I am thinking is that I can just trim 3r back as I attach it to 4r with the joining strip, eventually exposing the…[Read more]

Bruce,
I built one like yours, but 14″ longer. I just bought a Big Agnes sleeping pad that fits in as an inflatable floor. It’s uncanny how well it fits. Perfect width, stiffens the boat up very well, and it’s a heck of a lot easier than building an inflatable floor.

First float. Still have some pinhole leaks to fix, but it works fine.

Just YKK water resistant zips. The sort you’d find on a good waterproof jacket. I purchased from a good outdoor fabric & fittings supplier in the UK. I bought 3 metres and 3 zippers, then cut to size. I stiched over the end at front under small fixed deck but you need to attach small metal staples at the other end near the seat(when the deck is closed) because just melting the ends is not enought. Otherwise you are likely to make the same mistake as me and pull the zip right off!! I manage to get it back on…

Thanks Matt, I was thinking that sewing the panels together along the seam and then welding them so that the sewing is holding it all in place to ensure a good weld? Join all the panels and seal them before then attaching to the floor the inner floor seems would be simple enough a nd i can’t see that the to seams would be much different from…[Read more]
