As a Canadian eCommerce retailer, I want you to know that the recent US tariffs may affect your order.
As of October 1, 2025, all DIY Packraft kits should be exempt from tariffs, but only if there is nothing else in the parcel besides “kits”. Only things called “kits” in the DIY Packraft shop (packraft kits, spray deck kits, thigh strap kits, etc.) will come with a USMCA Certificate of Origin.
If you want to order other items such as bulk fabric, valves, zippers, and so on, I recommend purchasing them separately from a packraft kit, because everything in a parcel will be taxed by the US government at the highest tariff rate applicable to anything in the parcel.
For example, if you order a packraft kit alone, you will pay zero tariff, but if you add a spare zipper to your order (made in Germany which has a tariff rate of 10%), you will pay a 10% tax on the entire value of everything in the parcel. If you add a yard of extra fabric (made in Taiwan, which has a tariff rate of 20%), you will pay a 20% tax on everything in the parcel. And so on.
This is not my policy, this is an executive order directly from President Trump. Federal courts in the US have judged the tariffs illegal, but they still remain in place.
In this fast-changing tariff regime, I cannot guarantee the accuracy of the information above. If in doubt, I recommend checking with US Customs for specific details on potential charges before placing an order, because import duties, taxes, and tariffs imposed by the US government are the responsibility of the importer. If you refuse to accept your order, I will charge a restocking fee.
I appreciate your understanding and continued support.
Sincerely,
Matt Pope
