I opened up the Petite press iron curious as I am. on the left with red wires attached is the heating element bar, on the right with black wires is the temperature sensor. the temperature sensor is the feedback element that shuts the heating element off based upon which of the 4 temp settings its set to. the screw on the left of the iron is…[Read more]

White water “training wheels” I envision these could consist of 4, foot long pontoons; 2 on each side in the rear and 2 on each side in the front, such that none would be near the paddle stroke zone. the pontoons would possibly just touch the water to maybe not touch the water….I may try this myself at some point.
Also really like the DIY…[Read more]

Hello fellow packrafters,
I just wanted to check if y’all know about the Packrafting RoundUp. I went to it last year and had a blast! People come from all over the world 🙂

Dear, I have the same question as I am thinking of doing or not installing that top up “valve” (but actually it is not a valve, it is just an air tap) to the raft being DIYed at the moment. However, thinking it as similar material to the Boston valve’s base, I will install it in the way as similar to that for a Boston valve installation as…[Read more]

Top Up Valve Question:
I Searched around and didn’t see an answer to this question. If you want to install the top up valve with heat sealing do you seal a patch of fabric to the valve and then to the raft? Any suggestions on location? Thanks!

As I close my first packraft, I find I “Need” two new styles. Highest priority for my daughter, is a kids size raft with smaller 10″ or 9″ tubes. These would allow her shorter arms to better navigate the craft. Not reaching so far out past the centerline of the craft means less side to side swing and better tracking. The complexity of the tube…[Read more]

Hi Joe – I’m glad your build went well and you’re putting your packraft to good use!
I think your half deck idea would be an easy way to keep most of the splashes out, and the bent tent pole (or maybe even just your knees) would keep the deck sloped so the water would run off the sides – good idea! If you give it a try, please let us know how it works out. Cheers!

Sorry, I don’t have a Rogue-Lite so I don’t know.

Check out these pictures of an ingenious cruiser spray deck made by Andreas H.! He used 40D ripstop and a YKK Aquaguard 3C zipper. It tucks away into that tiny bag on the bow and weighs barely anything. I love getting emails like this!
